Located on First street, the Chadwick House was built in 1925 by
Clarence E. Chadwick, inventor of forgery-proof paper for bank checks, and his wife, Rosamond, a nationally known concert singer. The Chadwicks farmed their own strain of key limes, the Chad Limes, on Captiva in the 1920's and in the 1930's began renting out worker's cottages as vacation homes.

In 1942, the Chadwicks moved into their home on First street, where Clarence lived until he died in 1947. Garvin and Tripp have maintained law offices in the home since 1976.
